April 2007 - The Winners have been announced!

Thanks go to our judges, who have now chosen the six winners of the Write Now! Suffolk Short Story Competition. Thanks also to all those who entered the competition, and provided some excellent stories for the judges to read. It has been a very successful venture, which we intend to make a biennial event.

The First Prize of £100 has been awarded to Dave Pescod of Ipswich, for his short story 'Knowing My Place'. Congratulations to Dave, who will be attending, along with other winners, judges and members of Write Now!, a presentation at Waterstones Bookshop, in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk on the 8th May.

Second Prize of £75 goes to Dominique Lansdowne, who lives in Swindon, for 'Suffolk Sunshine'. Dominique has asked us to use her prize money to further promote our group and encourage new writers, which we are happy to do. We wish her continued success in her writing.

Third Prize of £50 is awarded to Ruth Dugdall, for 'My Brother the Sea'. Ruth lives in Felixstowe and is the author of The James Version, the story of The Red Barn murder in Polstead, which shocked nineteenth century England. More information about Ruth's work can be found here.

In addition, three Runner Up Prizes of £25 Book Tokens, kindly donated by Waterstones Bookshop, are awarded to: Liz Rowland, for 'Every Picture Tells a Story', Mrs L Lawrie for 'Turnpike Turmoil', and Lynne Worwood for 'I See a Wave upon a Shore'. Congratulations to all involved and we look forward to meeting the winners at the presentation in May.
